The opportunity

I was chosen to write and deliver the full Youth Sunday message. Because I wrote the sermon and designed the visuals, the words and the design came from one voice, which let every slide reinforce the message instead of competing with it.

The idea

The theme was that God can turn a weakness into a strength. I built a two-world visual system: a dark, struggle side and a lit, hope side, carried by a navy-and-gold palette and a strong textured display type. The title slide splits those two worlds in a single frame.

What I made

A 16-slide deck timed to the message: a title system, scripture slides with a consistent gold-highlight technique, a cinematic Moses sequence, and personal photo slides. Designed for a live room and a projected screen.

The thinking

Slides support the spoken word; they do not repeat it. I kept one idea per slide, held type and spacing consistent across the deck, and pulled key words in gold so the room stayed on the message. For the Moses sequence I chose a Marvel, Action-Bible style on purpose, so the congregation could picture Moses the way a kid does: a bold, larger-than-life hero. That set up the turn later in the message, when Moses admits he is slow of speech and the superhero image gives way to the real, insecure man God still chose to use.

The result

I delivered the message live with these visuals behind me, and the response was entirely positive. What I would change next time is balance. I put so much into the sermon and the slides that the mechanics of the service, the altar call and the transitions, could have been tighter and better organized. The whole service was youth-led, and a few moments needed stronger leadership to hold them together.
